Journey through Advent day 5

Advent day 5

Romans 5:12The Message (MSG)

The Death-Dealing Sin, the Life-Giving Gift

12-14 You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we’re in—first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death. That sin disturbed relations with God in everything and everyone, but the extent of the disturbance was not clear until God spelled it out in detail to Moses. So death, this huge abyss separating us from God, dominated the landscape from Adam to Moses. Even those who didn’t sin precisely as Adam did by disobeying a specific command of God still had to experience this termination of life, this separation from God. But Adam, who got us into this, also points ahead to the One who will get us out of it.

It is hard to believe that one little bite of fruit could cause such damage!  However that is how SIN works.  Humans didn’t understand what Adam had gotten us into until God gave Moses the law.  The law gives us instruction on what it means to be in a proper relationship with our Creator and our neighbors.   God points out through Moses that relationship is paramount to Him and if there is broken relationship there is SIN.

God had a plan and that is what advent is all about.  Walking through the darkness waiting on Gods perfect plan.   Just as the world waited for Jesus to be born and begin the revolution that will ultimately be culminated with the return of Jesus and his reign.  Until that day we wait and we HOPE because all because of a baby born in a manger……

Are there any broken relationships in your life?    I can’t think of a more perfect time to work on reconciliation than this Advent season.  I encourage to reach out and start bridging those gaps today. I couldn’t think of a better gift for God this Christmas than a mended relationship.
